Plank Challenge – Small Steps to a Stronger You!

Happy New Year!

Plank Challenge  – Small Steps to a Stronger You!

I want to invite you to join me for our Plank Challenge. As I mentioned in my post, New Year, Better You, the key to reaching your goals/new year’s resolutions is by setting small manageable goals. So I decided to start off the new year by doing a 1-minute plank a day. I wanted to work on strength and also deepen my overall mind/body connection. I decided on doing planks because there are so many benefits.

Benefits of doing Planks:

  1. Core body strength – Planks are one of the best exercises you can do to strengthen your core
  2. They also work glutes and hamstrings
  3. They help with posture and balance
  4. Improves the mind/body connection

I can keep going, but I think you get it.  They are a great exercise. So join me – I challenge you to do one 1-minute plank a day. I started over a week ago and so far so good.  This challenge is easy. Everyone has a minute to spare. Do it before you get in the shower, or take a break at work and plank, get your whole family to do it! There has to a be a way you can squeeze in this challenge – so don’t use time as an excuse. Next, don’t say you can’t do a 1-minute plank…ok, ok, I hear ya. A 1-minute plank is tough. So, start small. Do 4 – 20-second planks. Or 2, 30-second planks. Do a 30-second forearm and then 30-second hand plank, whatever works for you. Like I said I started a week ago and because I had not done a plank in a while I started with 2, 30 -second planks. I am working up to a 1-minute plank (I’m almost there).

So let’s start today! I will post again in a couple weeks to talk about my progress. But in the meantime, join me!
