Here are six things you should do every day to maintain focus, increase productivity, maintain balance and increase overall happiness. These are in no particular order of importance.
6 Things You Should Do Every Day
Take 10 Big Breaths
Count this as “you” time. It doesn’t take long. And it’s a sneaky way of getting you to meditate (or at least start). When I tell people I meditate every day; sometimes I get a weird look from people. It doesn’t have to take a lot of time. Just give yourself a couple of minutes to inhale and exhale and focus on your breathing. That’s it. Let everything else go. Concentrated breathing a great thing to do in the morning. Or anytime you need to reset. Our breath is a powerful tool, that once you tap into its power, you can use it to prepare for stressful situations, re-energizing yourself and looking inward to connect with yourself.
Take notice. A daily expression of gratitude is life changing. Say it out loud, Write I down, whatever works for you. Just take the time think about what you are grateful for big and small. Say thank you to someone. Instead of focusing on that negative inner dialogue. Stop and focus on what you have to be thankful for…becuse I know there is a lot!
My kids will back me up on this one. I always make sure they are drinking water. It’s so important to stay hydrated. So many things can go wrong if you are not hydrated. So carry a water bottle with you all day and keep it filled. Your body and your mind will thank you!
Don’t say you don’t have enough time…please. It’s so important to get our bodies moving. We were designed to just sit at a desk all day. Your body needs to move! Take a break and go for a 5-minute walk. Walk the dog. Go for a run. If you coach one your kid’s sports team – workout with them. Just do something to get the blood flowing. You will feel better, happier and sleep better. I promise.
Eat That Frog
“Eat that Frog” has come up a lot lately in my circle. We all want to be productive. I find the advice from the book Eat That Frog to be very powerful. The premise is that if you eat a live frog every morning, it would be the hardest thing you do all day. So tackle that big awful most important task first. Get the hard stuff over, and the rest is smooth sailing. It’s a hard behavior to change but once you do you will be happy you did. Try it. Be dedicated, and you will find you are productive, focused and you will reach more of your goals. I highly recommend getting the book “Eat that Frog” by Brian Tracy if you have not read it. There are a lot of great tips in it.
Eat a Meal Together
I know we are all busy and sometimes too busy to eat dinner together as a family. It doesn’t have to be dinner. It can be breakfast, lunch or a snack. It’s just important to have that family time together. Talk about important things. Set your weekly family goals. Just talk and laugh. Connect with each. Sometimes, this is the only time families get to get be together as a whole unit throughout the week. Enjoy it!
Try incorporating these 6 things in your life every day and let us know how you are doing. We’d love to hear from you!
