Quick and Easy Oatmeal

As the weather changes here in Michigan so does my diet. I start to incorporate more “comfort” foods. Some good for you and some…well not so good (but they taste good).  My morning routine usually consists of a smoothie for the whole family and then a little later in the morning, or sometimes even for lunch, I make a bowl of nice hot oatmeal. It’s healthy, it’s warm and it’s very filling.

This recipe for quick and easy oatmeal is great because you can modify it and make it just how you like it. Sometimes I add apples, or granola, dried cranberries or raisins to change it up.  And it smells delicious!

Quick and Easy Oatmeal

Ingredients

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan combine over medium heat
  • 1/4 cup Quaker Oats
  • 1/4 cup Seven Sundays Modern Muesli
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • splash of vanilla
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Stir occasionally, bring to a boil and stir until porridge consistency (about 5 minutes).
  • Pour into a bowl
  • Add milk and maple syrup to taste

This recipe for the down and dirty version (no extra added ingredients). I found the Seven Sundays Muesli at Costco and I am enjoying it. They make other flavors too. The one I used in the recipe has wild blueberries, apples, pumpkins seeds, chia seeds and other things so I don’t extra ingredients.  If I don’t use muesli, I cook a 1/2 cup of oats and add my own diced apples, chia seeds, dried cranberries, etc. Add what you like and enjoy!
